Onochie Leaves Earlsmead - Squad Update
24th October 2007 08:01
Elliot Onochie in action against QPR

Leading goalscorer Elliot Onochie has left the club and chosen to sign for Premier Division side Boreham Wood. The Wood's manager Steve Cook has tried before to lure Onochie away from Earlsmead, with an offer which will more than double the striker's wages, and has this time been successful in securing his signature.

Signs that something was in the air came when Onochie missed the match at home to Ramsgate, however he did apologise to his teammates and return for the 2-2 draw at Maidstone, getting on the scoresheet with the first goal. However he went to meet Boreham Wood the following day and decided not to take part in Harrow' FA Trophy match at Tonbridge Angels. On Monday morning he confirmed to the Club that he would be joining Boreham Wood. Steve Cook now has four top strikers to choose from as Elliot will join Simon Thomas, Byron Harrison and Chris Bangura.

Also leaving Earlsmead this week is striker Dewayne Clarke. Dewayne signed on loan from Boston but they have since torn up his contract so he has decided to join one of his former clubs Cheshunt despite initially agreeing to remain at Harrow. Dewayne has claims for outstanding wages owed by Cheshunt and saw this as an opportunity not only to increase his wages but to recover what he felt he was owed.

On the injury front, it looks like the month of October has already finished for the likes of Gary Meaken (knee), James Bent (knee), Bobby Highton (shoulder), Wayne Walters (suspended) and Nick Burton (personal).

So more challenges for team boss David Howell. "It has proved yet again to be a difficult month but since our first league victory back on the 1st September against AFC Wimbledon which earned my team the performance of the month from the Ryman league we have been knocked out of three cups; The Isthmian Cup, FA Cup and FA Trophy but we have only lost one league match, away to Heybridge Swifts.

"In our last three outings against Ramsgate, Maidstone United and Tonbridge Angels my players have shown tremendous fighting spirit and given me everything they could on the pitch. I hope that November will prove to be a more stable month but we must continue and maintain our team spirit despite the many forced changes to the squad."
