| Shiver me timbers,
and hoist the main-sail! The
good ship Harrow Borough will
be setting sail across the Solent,
for a Third Qualifying Round
FA Cup-tie with Newport (Isle
Of Wight) on Saturday week,
following Tuesday evening's
replay win at Flackwell.
Clemente Lopez's injury meant
a reshuffle to Saturday's line
up, with Danny Murphy returning
in left midfield. David Ocquaye
took over from Robert Charles
up front, and Osman Hasan made
a debut in midfield in place
of Robbie Rix.
Borough were first to threaten
a goal in the 16th minute, when
Perry Norman, just back on the
field after lengthy treatment
following a fierce challenge
by Shone, headed Murphy's corner
against the underside of the
bar from 15 yards. Murphy then
had a shot blocked and Ocquaye
headed Fitzsimon's cross over
the bar. At the other end, Norman
made a good tackle after Bowler
had beaten Richard Goddard.
Harrow opened the scoring after
35 minutes. Ocquaye held off
two challenges on the edge of
the box and fed Fabio Valenti
in the inside left position.
He steadied himself and blasted
the ball past Knott from 12
yards.
Valenti should have doubled
the lead six minutes into the
second half. He ran on to Kevin
McKenna's diagonal pass but
blasted the ball wide of goal
as Knott advanced.
The home side had threatened
little until, out of the blue,
in the 55th minute, Shone hit
a 25-yard shot that beat Keita
Karmoko but thumped off the
bar. This ought to have pushed
Borough into greater efforts
to get a second goal, but instead
it saw them sink to the level
of their Ryman Division Two
opponents for much of the rest
of the game. Nothing summed
it up better than when Fitzsimon
played a nice one-two with Ocquaye
but then fell over as he shaped
to shoot.
Flackwell began to get some
belief, and Karamoko saved from
Shone and Bowler, and Sipede
shot wide of the post. However,
the plucky Buckinghamshire side
couldn't mount any sustained
pressure, and Harrow regained
the upper hand. Murphy shot
wide and then put a free-kick
ridiculously awarded for a far-from-deliberate
back-pass over the bar.
